2016 Nissan Maxima Review

2016 Nissan Maxima Philadelphia PAThe brand new 2016 Nissan Maxima is the epitome of sports sedan. Its sleek exterior running lines pair with a low profile that showcases the four-door sedans prowess in acceleration and handling. But, with a spacious interior and seating for five, the sedan is versatile enough to be a family-oriented vehicle. Now that the 2016 Nissan Maxima is here, drivers who are looking for a new car in Doylestown, Philadelphia and Lansdale, you can find the exceptional sport sedan at Montgomeryville Nissan.

With the new model year, there are plenty of new features and additions to the 2016 Nissan Maxima. You know a model is excellent when it has survived eight generations. That is just what the Maxima has done. The Maxima is Nissan’s flagship sedan, and for good reason. It offers a great ride, luxury styled interior with sport responsiveness, all at a reasonable price. 2016 promises to be a great year for the Maxima because Nissan is giving the platform a full overhaul. Let’s take a look at what is in store for the 2016 Maxima and if it’s the right car for you to be driving around Doylestown, Lansdale, or Philadelphia.

Maxima Emphasis on Performance

How do you increase the sportiness of a car? Get it closer to the ground, extend its wheelbase and make it lighter. Nissan has tweaked its Maxima with all three of these ideas in mind. The model is now 1.3 inches lower and 2.2 inches longer than last year’s iteration. It also shed a few pounds — 82, to be exact.

What would all of those exterior upgrades be without an equivalent upgrade under the hood? Nissan has therefore fully redesigned over 60 percent of the Maxima’s engine. The revised 3.5 liter V-6 now puts out 300 horsepower at 261 pound feet of torque. That’s plenty of get up and go for the lighter frame.

The V-6 powers an Xtronic continuously variable transmission. While enthusiasts might lament that the CVT is the only transmission option, they won’t mind the increased gas mileage it provides: 22 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway. The CVT also boasts a sports mode that grants the Maxima’s driver the enviable sensation of sitting behind the wheel of a six speed that shifts quickly and responsively.

Responsive and Controlled Handling in the 2016 Maxima

The Nissan Maxima’s handling has also been improved by stiffening up the suspension a full 25 percent. This will give more feedback from the road and handling to take corners at a much more brisk pace than the previous model. The steering is precise and will see any driver breathing a sigh of enjoyment as he or she snakes along those curves in the road.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima also features a new Drive Mode Selector which gives you the ability to switch to a Sport Mode. This drive setting optimizes your throttle response to be sharper, steering to be heavier and shift points to be quicker for a sport-tune ride. And when you’re cruising on the highway, you can switch back to Normal mode for fuel-efficiency purposes.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima’s Driver-Friendly Interior

Nissan claims to have been inspired by the F/A -18 fighter’s cockpit design, and it shows. While you probably won’t get a Maxima equipped with missile countermeasures, you will find a streamlined cockpit feel behind the wheel. The center console has an 8 inch high-def display with swipe capabilities for controlling your technology. This includes pinch and zoom features for your NAV system maps and a display screen that works more like your smart phone than anything you have seen in a car thus far.

Other additions include a driver alert system for warning drivers when they are getting tired or are not paying attention. The system achieves this by monitoring driving patterns and then offering up warnings when it starts to detect inconsistent behavior.

Maxima Safety Where and When You Need It

The all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima is designed to give drivers an exhilarating ride, but also one that’s safe and protective. Auto accidents are far too common among our roads, and this new sport sedan has incorporated various safety features design to decrease the chances of a collision. Given an overall 5 star safety rating by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration in frontal, side and rollover crash tests, the 2016 Nissan Maxima is sure to keep you secure in all of your travel adventures.

Driver Attention Alert is an intuitive system that monitors your steering activity. If you ever feel drowsy on the road and begin paying less and less attention, your 2016 Nissan Maxima will take note of your unusual steering activity and regain your attention through audible cues. You’ll then notice a coffee cup icon on your dashboard, letting you know that it may be a good time to take a break.

Thanks to an available Predictive Forward Collision Warning system, sensors can monitor potential collision risks up ahead. This doesn’t mean only the vehicle in front of you, but the sensors reach out to the vehicle in front of that one as well to sense if that vehicle is slowing down rapidly to give you time to react. No matter where or when you’re driving, the 2016 Nissan Maxima’s safety features has you covered.

Luxurious Technology in the 2016 Maxima

2016 Nissan Maxima Interior Philadelphia PATo complete the total refinement overhaul, various technology features in the Nissan Maxima were thoughtfully placed throughout the vehicle to make sure you and your passengers are comfortable, and holds convenience to how you operate the various aspects of the sedan.

Ambient light throughout the cabin provides a cockpit-like experience that accents the overall style of the sport sedan perfectly. It will make finding the buttons on your instrument cluster easier, and make you feel more comfortable on long night drives.

To control the many NissanConnect functions that run through your seven-inch display monitor, drivers have easy control with a Display Command shift knob behind your gear shifter. It lets you toggle and scroll with subtle hand movements, and its easy-to-reach location makes it easy for you to control with your eyes on the road ahead.
