2013 Nissan 370Z Roadster Compared To The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500

There are many similarities to the sporty 2013 Nissan 370Z Roadster and to the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. Both vehicles are performance oriented, stylishly designed, well-structured and come equipped with powerful engines and feature enhanced aerodynamics.

The 370Z Nissan Roadster is powered by a 3.7 liter engine that churns out 332 horsepower and 270 feet of torque. A manual six-speed transmission is standard. As an upgrade option, Nissan offers an automatic seven-speed transmission. The estimated fuel economy is 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 comes equipped with a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine that puts out 662 horsepower and 631 pound feet of torque that is paired with a manual six-speed transmission. Ford does not offer an automatic transmission for the GT500. The fuel economy for the Ford Shelby GT500 is not as impressive, which is only 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The nicely equipped Nissan 370Z Roadster comes in two trim levels, which are the Base and Touring. Some of the standard features included on the Base model are a lather-wrapped and tilt steering wheel, heated mirrors, 18-inch wheels, cruise control, LED running lights and keyless entry and start. Other Base model features include a CD player, climate control, automatic bi-xenon headlights and an eight-way manual driver seat. Nissan adds many amenities to the Touring trim level such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, heated power seats, satellite radio, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a six-CD changer stereo system and a rear cargo cover. Optional features for the Touring level include 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, an iPod/USB audio interface and a navigation system.

The Nissan 370Z Roadster also has many safety features like six airbags, stability control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic traction control, tire pressure monitoring and anti-whiplash head restraints. Ford offers similar standard and safety features on Ford Shelby GT500, but many are only available as expensive upgrades.

The cabin of the Nissan 370Z Roadster is fairly roomy and has cushy seating. High-end leather and faux-suede materials enhance the richness of the cabin. Plus, the control panel features simple to read and operate large-button dials. There is also a sufficient amount of storage and cargo space inside the Nissan Roadster.

The interior of the Ford Shelby GT500 is not as spacious as the 370Z Nissan Roadster. Taller drivers and passengers will feel cramped in the front seat and back seats. Also, the Ford Shelby GT500 does not have as much cargo or storage space as the Nissan.
The Ford Shelby GT500 also has a much heftier price, which makes the 2013 Nissan 370Z Roadster the better choice for those looking for a well-equipped and safe sports car.
