2013 Nissan 370Z Coupe Reviewed

The 2013 Nissan 370Z coupe, perhaps more than any other vehicle, represents outstanding world-class performance at a price that is within the reach of many car buyers.2013-Nissan-370Z-Reviews

With its 335-horsepower Nissan VQ-Series 3.7-liter V6 engine outputting 335 horsepower, the Z is the latest in an evolution of Nissan’s everyman sports car dating back 40 years. What’s New For 2013?

For 2013, Nissan made some subtle appearance tweaks to make the Z look a little fiercer. The front fascia is redesigned on both 370Z coupe and convertible models to incorporate LED daytime running lights.

A new 18-inch wheel design and a much-improved Bose premium audio system keep things fresh. Coming to the Sport Package is newly retuned shock absorbers for a more thrilling drive than the base model.

The NISMO 370Z carries over in coupe form only, with engine output raised to 350 horsepower. The highest-performing Z also comes with a limited-slip differential, a short-throw 6-speed manual transmission and an even more aggressively tuned suspension setup.

Driving Impressions

The Z can match much more expensive sports cars corner for corner, in the league of 2-seat coupe and roadster models from BMW and Porsche that start at around $20,000 more. At the track, turn-in is quick and precise. Turn the traction and stability control programs to “Off” and you have a modern sports car that handles how a purist dreams about.

Sport Package and NISMO models, with their race-tuned suspension, can be a little harsh over rough public roads, with even the base model sometimes sending jolts to its driver and passenger. This is a necessary evil to make a vehicle with sky-high cornering limits and zero body roll in everyday driving.

Thinking of Buying?

Test drive the 2013 Nissan 370Z back-to-back with the BMW Z4, Porsche Boxster and Chevrolet Corvette and you’ll find it’s every bit the driver’s car of those more-expensive models.

Nissan’s heritage dating back decades to the first 240Z is still alive and well.

In continuous production since 1969, the Z-Car lineup continues to excite and advance while cementing its place among the world’s all-time greatest sports car lineups.
