Located in the heart of Montgomery Country is Merrymead Farm, a family-owned-and-operated dairy and market farm thriving in its fifth generation.
Providing the freshest milk and an array of seasonal produce and goods, it’s the perfect place for a family outing any time of year.
Since the farm started over 100 years ago, it has grown large to become a staple in the community, as well as a cherished part of many family traditions. This is in big part thanks to their fresh Merrymead Milk.
Produced by healthy and happy Holstein cows, this fresh milk is HBST and hormone free and is processed and packaged right on the farm. They don’t stop at milk, either. Along with everything from whole to skim milk, they also sell the tastiest chocolate and strawberry milk, half-and-half, heavy cream, buttermilk, and of course—ice cream.
Available in 32 flavors, hand-dipped and handcrafted with the finest local ingredients, this small-batch ice cream is sure to be some of the best and freshest you have ever had. You can even get it in a cake, perfect for any special occasion.
No matter what time of the year you visit you Merrymead Farms, your whole family is in for a treat. There’s always something exciting happening here, giving you a chance to not only have some fun but to find some great locally produced items.
- Winter: Wintertime at Merrymead is all about the trees. To make your holidays special, they provide fresh-cut local trees starting Thanksgiving weekend. To fully round out your home’s décor, handmade wreaths, holly, and rolls of white pine are also available.
You can even get your holiday ham sourced by local famers, Merrymead’s old fashioned eggnog (made with their fresh dairy), and other seasonal items ideal for rounding out your family meal. Kids can also visit Santa and in February, make sure to stop by again to celebrate Fastnacht Day with their fresh baked goods!
- Spring: Blooms are aplenty in spring at Merrymead, providing you with a wide range of flowers, veggie plants, herbs, perennials, and more to start your annual gardening off right. That’s not all, though—grab your fresh ham for Easter dinner and candies for baskets while you’re here and have the kids visit that famous bunny!
- Summer: Healthy, fresh, and local produce takes over Merrymead Farm in the summer. From blueberries, peaches, and apples to tomatoes, zucchini, and sweet corn, all are locally grown and in season. Don’t forget that July is also National Ice Cream Month, and Merrymead has the perfect flavor for you.
- Fall: There’s no doubt that autumn is one of the best times to visit a farm. Merrymead proudly celebrates Fall Harvest Days with tons of activities like hayrides, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, and so much more.
All season, they also have a large variety of pumpkins, squash, and gourds for decking out your home in fall style. Fresh apple cider donuts, crisp apple cider, a variety of apples, and holiday pies are also available!
