One of the biggest selling points of the 2016 Nissan Rogue is its performance. With a state-of-the-art powertrain and performance technologies, this SUV is sure to deliver a smooth and powerful driving experience.
Power and Capabilities
The 2016 Nissan Rogue is powered by a 2.5L I-4 engine. This gets up to 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.
The 2016 Rogue also offers the available intuitive All-Wheel Drive System. This can detect decreased traction an automatically redirects torque to one or more wheels to ensure control, stability, and road grip in all weather conditions. Active Ride Control, Active Tract Control, and Active Engine Braking for added performance.
The following features are also available to ensure performance stability.
- Active Engine Braking adjusts torque to help the vehicle slow down while you’re applying the brakes for optimum stopping power.
- Active Trace Control automatically deploys the inner or outer brakes to improve turning and cornering performance.
- Active Ride Control automatically applies the brakes and adjusts the engine torque to maintain control when you hit a bump in the road.
Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission®
Working with the engine is Nissan’s Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission® (CVT). This innovative powertrain feature helps the Rogue deliver a smoother performance. Thanks to its innovative construction, it does not use sets of fixed gears when shifting. Instead, it provides “stepless” ratios and features cutting-edge enhancements that allows it to shift between gears seamlessly.
This advanced transmission has also been modified to work with high-performance automatic transmission fluid. This allows to shift gears about 30% faster than other systems for optimized response and acceleration,
Best of all the Xtronic CVT® in the Nissan Rogue includes two driver selectable options: Sport Mode and Eco Mode to help you achieve the exact performance you want. When selected, the powertrain and other components under the hood are configured to each mode’s specific settings.
Sport Mode adjusts performance parts to be more response for a more more athletic ride while cruising through Philadelphia, Lansdale, and Doylestown. When Eco Mode is activated, systems under the hood are modified to promote a fuel efficient performance.
2016 Nissan Rogue Fuel Economy
The Eco Mode function in the Rogue’s transmission system helps the vehicle generate an EPA-estimated 33 mpg highway. However, that amenity isn’t the only thing that’s helping make the SUV eco-friendly. The transmission itself is also designed to boost fuel economy.
Compared to last year’s model, the Xtronic CVT® in the 2016 Rogue features a 40% reduction in friction loss. It also includes an improved belt and pulley system as well as a wide gear ration and compact oil pump. Altogether, these enhancements help the transmission become 10% more efficient.
