Pros and Cons of a 2013 Nissan Altima

One of the finest and most popular mid-size cars on the market, the Nissan Altima consistently earns high marks among drivers for its reliability, safety and overall performance.

The “pros,” or benefits, of owning an Altima are plentiful. The Altima is expertly engineered to provide outstanding fuel economy while still furnishing superb handling, excellent suspension and powerful acceleration. Available in a sedan and a coupe body style, the Altima offers extraordinarily comfortable seating that compares favorably with any car in its class.2013 Nissan Altima PA A user-friendly dashboard, refined center console and state-of-the-art electronic elements are among the other highlights of the Altima’s interior. Among the special interior features available in the Altima are keyless ignition, a vivid four-inch, five-inch or seven-inch display screen, a standard four-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity and a driver’s seat that is easily adjustable to conform with the driver’s height.

In designing the car’s seats, Nissan engineers relied on assistance from NASA researchers to ensure the Altima’s seats provide relief to the most common pressure points on the human body. Known as “zero gravity” front seats, these seats are available in all Altimas and guarantee a comfortable ride even on long trips.

The exterior of the Altima features sleek, attractive styling that makes the car a pleasure to behold as well as to drive. Depending on the specific model, Altima owners can enjoy 16-inch steel wheels or 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, xenon headlights, LED taillights and a sunroof.

One of the major benefits of the Altima is the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of exciting options. Altima drivers can opt for a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a nine-speaker premium sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control and a six-way or eight-way power driver’s seat. Side/curtain airbags, stability control and traction control are offered on all models of the Altima. In government safety testing, the Altima earned five stars, the highest rating.

The Altima, which offers a continuously variable transmission in all models, comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.5-liter V6 engine. The Altima’s gas mileage is top-notch, ranging up to 27 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway.

The “cons,” or drawbacks, to the Altima are relatively minor. In the rear seating area, headroom and legroom for passengers can be a bit tight. The continuously variable transmission can sound slightly loud at full throttle in the four-cylinder models. Drivers who decide to add all of the luxury options could end up paying a bit more than they had planned.
